If you have a turtle aquarium, a heat lamp is going to be one of your basic items in the kit. Creating an environment where your turtle can enjoy its warmth will mean it can live as close to how it would in the wild.

For your turtle's health and well-being

Because your turtle is a cold-blooded animal, it isn't capable of generating its own internal heat. That's why your turtle tank light is a much-needed piece of kit, allowing the infrared heat to be absorbed through the skin to increase its body temperature, stimulate its blood circulation, expand blood vessels and promote its overall health and well-being.

Know that your turtle will also require a separate lamp to provide light to enable it to carry out other bodily processes. For example, your turtle will generate vitamin D3 from the light to help with calcium absorption to maintain a healthy shell.

What wattage heat lamp works for turtles?

If you have a smaller aquarium or enclosure, up to two turtles and a small basking area, you should choose a lower-wattage turtle heat lamp. A 50W or 75W turtle tank light will be just perfect.

But if you have a bigger enclosure, more than two turtles or require a larger basking area, opt for the 150W turtle light.
